Samsung Electronics Formalizes Business Support Unit, Marks Major Leadership Transition

Samsung Electronics has officially disbanded its Business Support Task Force (TF), an eight-year-old emergency organization, and established a permanent Business Support Office, marking a significant shift in its operational framework. This official announcement on November 7, 2025, details key leadership changes and the strategic intent behind this Samsung Business Support restructuring, aiming to bolster group-wide strategic management and overall competitiveness. This Samsung Business Support move is a notable development in the company’s corporate restructuring efforts.

Samsung Business Support: Transition from Task Force to Permanent Office

The Business Support Task Force, initially formed in November 2017 after the dissolution of Samsung’s former Future Strategy Office, has now been dissolved. In its place, a permanent Business Support Office has been established, enhancing Samsung Business Support capabilities. This development is interpreted by industry analysts as a formal conclusion to Samsung’s period of emergency management, aiming for greater organizational stability and improved management efficiency. The company has clarified that this Samsung Business Support restructuring is not a revival of a group control tower. Instead, the Business Support Office will undertake the same critical responsibilities previously managed by the TF, focusing on coordinating major business issues across Samsung’s diverse affiliates and providing crucial support for key decision-making processes, thereby reinforcing its Samsung Business Support function.

This strategic management adjustment is a key component of the Samsung Electronics reorganization. The Business Support Office is designed to offer continuous and robust Samsung Business Support.

Leadership Changes and New Samsung Business Support Structure

Vice Chairman Jeong Hyun-ho, who played a pivotal role in leading the Business Support TF, is transitioning from his direct management responsibilities. He will now act as an advisor to Chairman Lee Jae-yong, a strategic move intended to foster future leaders as Samsung’s business performance has notably improved and operations have normalized. Jeong, long recognized as a close confidant of Chairman Lee, has overseen critical management and strategy functions, making his advisory role significant for ongoing Samsung Business Support.

Assuming leadership of the new Business Support Office is President Park Hak-kyu. A seasoned financial expert with extensive experience across various Samsung divisions, including the Device Solutions (DS) and Device Experience (DX) units, Park is poised to utilize his expertise in financial affairs and business management to guide the group’s strategic coordination and enhance Samsung Business Support. His prior significant roles within the Secretariat Office and the Future Strategy Office, along with his tenure as CFO for key divisions, position him well for this crucial Samsung Business Support role.

The Business Support Office is organized into three core teams, each contributing to the overall Samsung Business Support strategy:
* Strategy Team: Led by Choi Yun-ho, previously head of Samsung Electronics’ Management Diagnosis Office, this team will focus on forward-looking strategic initiatives.
* Management Diagnosis Team: Headed by Joo Chang-hoon, formerly a Vice President within the Business Support TF, this team will ensure operational efficiency and performance monitoring.
* People Team: Overseen by Moon Hee-dong, another Vice President from the former TF, this team will concentrate on talent management and development, crucial aspects of comprehensive Samsung Business Support.

Strategic Rationale and Future Implications for Samsung Business Support

The timing of this organizational shift aligns with Samsung Electronics’ escalating investments in vital growth sectors like artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductors. The increasing need for integrated, group-wide strategic management underscores the necessity for a more permanent and structured approach to facilitate these expanding ambitions, thereby centralizing Samsung Business Support. This Samsung Electronics reorganization also reflects Chairman Lee Jae-yong’s commitment to innovation and transformation, particularly in an era characterized by rapid technological advancements, and emphasizes the importance of a robust Samsung Business Support system. This leadership transition is a key element of the new management office.

This restructuring is being hailed as a significant development, with some industry insiders speculating it may precede broader executive appointments and organizational adjustments within the Samsung Group this month. The establishment of a permanent office signifies a firm commitment to long-term strategic planning and operational resilience, strengthening the Samsung Business Support framework. Consolidating functions previously dispersed across different departments under a single, unified organization is intended to bolster overall business competitiveness and refine the approach to Samsung Business Support.

Conclusion on Samsung Business Support

The formal establishment of the Business Support Office and the accompanying leadership transitions represent a pivotal moment in Samsung Electronics’ ongoing evolution, enhancing its Samsung Business Support capabilities. By instituting a permanent structure and appointing seasoned leaders, the company is focused on reinforcing its strategic direction, elevating management efficiency, and solidifying its global market standing. This strategic management initiative clearly aims to provide effective Samsung Business Support without recreating a past ‘control tower’ model, marking a new chapter in its Samsung Group structure.
