**Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs Sentenced to Over Four Years for Prostitution-Related Convictions**

Hip-hop mogul Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs has been sentenced to 50 months, or just over four years, in federal prison following his conviction on two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian in New York City on Friday, October 3, 2025. The conviction stems from a federal trial where a jury found Combs guilty of arranging interstate travel for commercial sex workers and his former girlfriends, including singer Casandra “Cassie” Ventura and another woman who testified under the pseudonym “Jane,” with the intent that they engage in prostitution.

Combs, 55, was acquitted of more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex trafficking, which could have carried a life sentence. The jury’s mixed verdict in July 2025 concluded an eight-week trial that featured extensive testimony from over 30 witnesses, including former employees, associates, and alleged victims. Central to the prosecution’s case were the detailed accounts from Ventura and “Jane,” who described alleged coercion into participating in drug-fueled sexual encounters referred to as “freak-offs.” Evidence presented included a 2016 surveillance video showing Combs physically assaulting Ventura in a hotel hallway, a key piece of evidence that was repeatedly shown during the trial.

The legal troubles for Sean Combs escalated significantly with a wave of lawsuits alleging sexual abuse and misconduct, beginning in late 2023. Federal agents searched Combs’ homes in March 2024, leading to his arrest in September 2024 on a federal indictment that accused him of using his business empire to coerce women into participating in sexual performances. Throughout the proceedings, Combs pleaded not guilty to all charges.

During the trial, prosecutors argued that Combs leveraged his power, fame, and wealth, alongside violence and threats, to coerce women into sexual activities. The defense, however, acknowledged past instances of domestic violence but contended that all sexual activity was consensual and part of a “swingers lifestyle,” denying any criminal coercion or trafficking. The defense team’s arguments, which highlighted the consensual nature of some interactions and questioned the extent of coercion, appear to have influenced the jury’s decision to acquit him of the more severe charges.

Sentencing and Legal Ramifications

At the sentencing hearing, federal prosecutors had sought a prison term of over 11 years, citing Combs’ alleged history of abuse and violence. Conversely, Combs’ defense attorneys requested a sentence of no more than 14 months, arguing for leniency and emphasizing his contributions to culture and society. Judge Subramanian acknowledged Combs’ accomplishments but emphasized the need for accountability. He ultimately sentenced Combs to 50 months, with credit for the approximately 13 months he had already served in custody since his arrest. The sentence also includes a $500,000 fine and five years of supervised release.

In his statement to the court before sentencing, Combs apologized for his past behavior, calling it “disgusting, shameful and sick” and expressing remorse to his former girlfriends, family, and community. Judge Subramanian addressed the victims directly, stating, “We heard you,” acknowledging their bravery in coming forward.

Combs’ legal team has announced plans to appeal both his conviction and sentence, with attorneys calling the sentence “un-American” and “unconstitutional,” citing the judge’s repeated references to coercion despite the jury’s acquittal on coercion-related charges. The appeal process could take several months to a year for a decision. Beyond the criminal proceedings, Combs continues to face numerous civil lawsuits alleging sexual misconduct.

The conviction and sentencing of Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs mark a significant moment, impacting his legacy in American culture and sparking discussions about power dynamics and accountability within society and the entertainment industry. This news is a major development in national legal and entertainment news.
